The Longpre Residence is a personal study in the meaning of home, conceived as both a private dwelling and a living expression of the ideas that guide Longpre Architecture. Located high above the city, the apartment is shaped around light, memory, ritual, and the quiet transformation of domestic space into something more intimate and enduring.

Rather than treating the home as a collection of rooms, the residence is composed as a series of emotional and spiritual thresholds. A nursery, a living space, a work room, and a tatami room each hold a distinct rhythm of daily life. Together, they form a compact but deeply layered interior, where family, reflection, creativity, and rest are allowed to coexist.

The project draws from Japanese spatial traditions, mid century furniture, natural materials, collected art, and personal objects gathered over time. Tatami mats, dark green walls, warm wood furniture, woven textiles, plants, and devotional pieces create a domestic atmosphere that feels grounded, contemplative, and lived in. The result is not a styled interior, but a home shaped through use, memory, and care.

At its centre, the Longpre Residence reflects a belief that architecture begins with how people inhabit the world. It is a study in how rooms can hold identity, family, ritual, imagination, and stillness. In this sense, the residence becomes both a home and a manifesto, a private vessel for the soul behind the public work of the firm.
