CEDAR HEIGHTS

2022  |  BRITISH COLUMBIA  |  CONCEPT

Cedar Heights is a conceptual residential design by Longpre Architecture that explores the relationship between modern living, natural materials, and the quiet emotional presence of home. The project studies how Scandinavian clarity and Japanese spatial restraint can come together to create a residence that feels calm, warm, and closely connected to its surroundings.

The concept is shaped around a desire to blur the boundary between inside and outside. Generous glazing, sheltered outdoor spaces, natural materials, and carefully framed views create a sense of continuity between the home and the landscape. Rather than treating nature as something outside the building, Cedar Heights imagines the landscape as part of the daily experience of living.

The design language is simple, warm, and restrained. Clean lines, wood surfaces, open living spaces, and a strong connection to light give the home a quiet contemporary character, while the overall composition remains grounded, residential, and human in scale.

As a concept design, Cedar Heights was developed as an architectural study rather than a completed building. It reflects Longpre Architecture’s interest in homes that balance function, beauty, atmosphere, and emotional depth.

For Longpre Architecture, Cedar Heights represents an early exploration of ideas that continue to shape the studio’s work: homes that feel connected to nature, attentive to daily ritual, and designed not only as buildings, but as places of refuge, belonging, and soul.
